What are the Symptoms of Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome?
The symptoms of WAS are variable but typically include:
Eczema: Often severe and resistant to standard treatments. Thrombocytopenia: Leads to easy bruising, petechiae (small red or purple spots on the skin), and prolonged bleeding. Immune Deficiency: Increased susceptibility to infections, including bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. Autoimmune Disorders: Such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, vasculitis, and inflammatory bowel disease. Increased Risk of Malignancies: Particularly hematologic cancers like lymphoma and leukemia.
