The germinal stage spans from conception to about 2 weeks. It begins with the fertilization of the egg, forming a zygote. This zygote undergoes rapid cell division and travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus. By the end of the second week, the zygote implants itself into the uterine wall, marking the end of the germinal stage.
