DIC in neonates can be triggered by various underlying conditions. Common causes include sepsis, hypoxia, severe infections, and trauma. Other potential triggers are perinatal asphyxia, shock, and hemolytic diseases of the newborn. Each of these conditions can initiate the cascade of events leading to DIC.
