Bowel obstruction in neonates can be caused by a range of conditions:
Congenital atresia: A part of the intestine is absent or closed. Meconium ileus: Thickened meconium blocks the ileum, often associated with cystic fibrosis. Hirschsprung's disease: Absence of nerve cells in a part of the bowel, leading to severe constipation and obstruction. Malrotation with volvulus: Twisting of the intestines, which can cut off blood supply. Intussusception: A part of the intestine slides into an adjacent part, causing blockage.
