For infants under one year old, the Heimlich maneuver is not recommended. Instead, perform the following steps: 1. Lay the infant face down on your forearm, supporting their head and neck. 2. Administer 5 back blows between the infantâs shoulder blades using the heel of your hand. 3. If the object does not dislodge, turn the infant face up and give 5 chest thrusts using two fingers placed at the center of the chest, just below the nipple line. 4. Repeat the sequence until the object is expelled or the infant becomes unresponsive.
