Toxoplasmosis can be transmitted to children in several ways:
Congenital transmission: When a pregnant woman acquires the infection, the parasite can cross the placenta and infect the fetus. Postnatal transmission: Through ingestion of oocysts from contaminated food, water, or soil, or through undercooked meat containing tissue cysts. Breastfeeding: Rarely, through breast milk if the mother is acutely infected.
