While the vaccine is safe for most children, there are some exceptions. Children who have had a severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of the Hepatitis A vaccine or to any component of the vaccine should not receive it. Additionally, children who are moderately or severely ill at the time of the scheduled vaccination should wait until they recover before getting the vaccine.
