Antibiotic prophylaxis is indicated in several scenarios in neonatology:
Preterm infants with prolonged rupture of membranes (PROM) to prevent early-onset sepsis. Neonates born to mothers with Group B Streptococcus (GBS) colonization. Babies undergoing invasive procedures, such as central line insertions or surgeries. Infants with congenital anomalies that increase infection risk, such as neonatal hydronephrosis.
