Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole, often referred to as TMP-SMX or by its brand name Bactrim, is a combination antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It consists of two active ingredients: trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole, which work synergistically to inhibit bacterial growth.
