Kangaroo Care is a method of holding a preterm or low birth weight infant skin-to-skin on the parent's chest. This technique can offer numerous emotional and physiological benefits for both the infant and the parent. It was first developed in Colombia in the late 1970s as a way to care for premature infants without access to modern medical facilities.
