What are the Risks Associated with PEG in Pediatrics?
While PEG is generally safe, it does carry some risks. These can include infection at the insertion site, bleeding, or injury to surrounding organs. Long-term complications may involve tube dislodgement or blockage, and granulation tissue formation at the site, which can cause discomfort or leakage. Careful monitoring and proper care of the PEG site can mitigate many of these risks.
