Screening test: NIPT is a screening test, not a diagnostic test. Positive results should be confirmed with diagnostic procedures like amniocentesis or CVS. Limited scope: NIPT does not detect all genetic disorders, only specific chromosomal abnormalities. False positives and negatives: Although rare, false-positive and false-negative results can occur. Not definitive: Results may sometimes be inconclusive, requiring further testing.
