Sensory sensitivities refer to the heightened or reduced sensitivity to stimuli in the environment, affecting one or more of the sensory systems: tactile, auditory, visual, gustatory, olfactory, proprioceptive, and vestibular. Children with sensory sensitivities may react too intensely or insufficiently to sensory input, leading to difficulties in daily functioning.
