Toxoplasmosis is primarily transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated food or water, particularly undercooked meat, or exposure to cat feces. Pregnant women are at risk if they consume contaminated food or handle cat litter, which may contain the parasite. The infection can then cross the placenta and infect the fetus.
