Diagnosis of GER in neonates is generally clinical, based on the symptoms presented. However, in severe cases or when complications are suspected, further diagnostic tests may be required:
Upper GI series - X-rays to visualize the esophagus and stomach pH probe - Measures the acidity in the esophagus Endoscopy - Allows direct visualization of the esophagus Esophageal manometry - Assesses the function of the LES
