How is Fluid Requirement Calculated?
The daily fluid requirement for children can be calculated based on their weight. The Holliday-Segar formula is commonly used:
100 mL/kg for the first 10 kg of body weight
50 mL/kg for the next 10 kg
20 mL/kg for any weight over 20 kg
These values may need adjustments based on the child’s clinical condition,
activity level
, and environmental factors.
