What is the Role of Backpacks in Posture?

Heavy or improperly worn backpacks are a common cause of poor posture in children. Backpacks should not weigh more than 10-15% of the child's body weight. They should be worn with both shoulder straps to distribute weight evenly and should fit snugly against the child’s back. Straps should be adjusted so the backpack sits in the middle of the back and does not sag below the waist.
