The pulse oximetry test involves placing a small sensor on the baby's skin, usually on the hand and foot. The sensor uses light to measure how much oxygen is in the blood. Low levels of oxygen saturation might suggest the presence of a CHD, prompting further diagnostic tests such as an echocardiogram.
