Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM) refers to the rupture of the amniotic sac before the onset of labor. When this rupture occurs before 37 weeks of gestation, it is referred to as preterm PROM (PPROM). This condition can lead to various complications for both the mother and the neonate.
