What Happens to the Baby After an Emergency Cesarean Section?
After an emergency C-section, the baby is typically assessed immediately by a pediatrician or a neonatologist. The medical team will check the babyâs Apgar score, which evaluates the babyâs heart rate, breathing, muscle tone, reflexes, and skin color. If the baby shows signs of distress or requires additional support, they may be taken to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
