HDN is classified into three types based on the timing of the bleeding:
Early HDN: Occurs within the first 24 hours of life, often due to maternal medications that interfere with Vitamin K. Classic HDN: Develops between the second and seventh day of life. It is the most common type and is usually related to the natural deficiency of Vitamin K in newborns. Late HDN: Appears between the second week and six months of life. This type is often associated with exclusively breastfed infants who did not receive Vitamin K prophylaxis at birth.
