What are the Pharmacological Options for Pain Control?
Pharmacological interventions are a cornerstone of pain management in children. Options include acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for mild to moderate pain. For more severe pain, opioids such as morphine may be used, albeit cautiously, due to the risk of side effects and dependence. Adjuvant medications like gabapentin and antidepressants may also be considered for certain types of pain.
