What are the Early Signs and Symptoms in Neonates?
In neonates, early signs of NF1 can include:
Café-au-lait spots: These are light brown skin patches that become more apparent with age. Axillary or inguinal freckling: Freckles in the underarm or groin area can appear by early childhood. Lisch nodules: These are benign growths on the iris of the eye, visible under a slit lamp examination.
Other manifestations may include skeletal abnormalities such as scoliosis or bowed legs, and developmental delays.
