Fever in children is a common concern. The most frequent causes include viral infections like the common cold, influenza, and roseola. Bacterial infections such as streptococcal pharyngitis (strep throat) and urinary tract infections can also cause fever. Teething may cause a slight increase in temperature but not usually a high fever.
