Pediatric brain tumors are abnormal growths of tissue in the brain or central spine that can disrupt normal brain function. These tumors can be either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Common types include astrocytomas, medulloblastomas, and ependymomas. The cause of most pediatric brain tumors is unknown, but some genetic syndromes like neurofibromatosis and Li-Fraumeni syndrome can increase risk.
