Several arterial disorders can affect neonates, including:
- Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA): A condition where the ductus arteriosus, a blood vessel that allows blood to bypass the lungs in utero, fails to close after birth, leading to abnormal blood flow. - Coarctation of the Aorta: A narrowing of the aorta that can restrict blood flow and increase the workload on the heart. - Congenital Heart Defects: Various structural abnormalities can affect the arteries, such as Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) and Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS).
