Diagnosis of vitiligo is primarily clinical, based on the appearance of the skin. A dermatologist may use a Wood's lamp (a special ultraviolet light) to highlight depigmented areas. In some cases, a skin biopsy or blood tests may be conducted to rule out other conditions or to identify underlying autoimmune disorders.
