The core of PacBio's technology is Single Molecule, Real-Time (SMRT) sequencing. This method allows for the observation of DNA synthesis in real-time. A single molecule of DNA is immobilized, and as nucleotides are incorporated, they emit fluorescent signals that are captured and analyzed. This leads to high accuracy and the ability to read long sequences of DNA.
